goofing in summer

Yesterday was a nice relaxing day and I was blessed to be able to have some time off (because of my concussion) to sit back, relax, and enjoy life a little bit. :) which is always nice.. to be able to count your blessings. While sitting and relaxing, I happened to pick up a book that was written for children. It was full of character building stories. I noticed how much I enjoyed them as I read page by page. The lessons that were taught were ones that still apply to my very life today. Some things I even realized I did, without noticing and I couldn't help but think my mother must have read me stories like this when I was a child, though I do not remember. A few of them stuck out well to me in my mind, and I was surprised I could remember them the next morning. My favorite part out of one of the book said, "So you wanted to get out of a hard thing, but now you realize it has become harder" or something to that sort, because the boy in the story lied to his father, and he was filled with guilt, and of course he got punished. So, I think that is a very good lesson.. because even in our adult lives, we sometimes try to take the "easy way out" and yet, it never seems to be as fulfilling- it always seems shady- so it's best to be a woman or man of virtue, and deal with the truth and what is right. Today was filled with lots of activities. My friend Mischelle came over. We made crayon art (yes, we tried it) turned out a little crazy.. but we learned a lot about how we would do it better NEXT time. She went to the doctors with me :) and we went running & swimming and jacuzzi-ing.. and we tried to go to church for tech training but it was the wrong date. haha! :) It was great though! Oh yeah! And we found this awesome couch on my neighbors lawn, so we dragged the couch to the middle of our road and left it there- and we sat in it- and actually read on it and waved to the neighbors and such. Then later, my dad came out to me and said, "Courtney, you need to go help the neighbor move his chair back, he's going to hurt his back" so me and Mischelle went running down the street and there is the neighbor picking up the huge chair and walking it back to his house! So, we explained to him, how we took the chair for fun, and we enjoyed it and sat in it, and then we helped it drag it back to his front yard for garbage or pick up disposal. He said that he thought "oh great, someone took the chair, and then he realized it was in the middle of my street LOL!" Hahah... Oh man! What a riot! :) I'll have to add pictures later. :) Well tata!

Wishing and Waiting

Today, I wished for adventure. I wished to go explore the world with someone.
Yet, adventure was not what was planned for today.
So, I rested today.

I watched the robins jumping on the grass.
They are patient; they wait long periods of time.
Then, all of sudden they go bouncing through the thick grass.
One robin pecks his beak into the ground.
-pulls out his prize- a worm.
The robin is patient,
but he got what he desired.

Today, I want adventure.
Yet, it's time for me to wait.
So, I'll wait patiently like the robin.
Until, the moment arrives.
